Our Curriculum

From September 2014 all maintained schools in England must introduce the New National Curriculum. We have worked together to shape a curriculum that we believe will engage and enthuse our children underpinned by the aims and values of The Vine Inter-Church Primary School.


To build a stimulating, inclusive and relevant curriculum we will offer ….

  • a curriculum with a breadth of creative experiences developed in partnership with pupils and designed to foster curiosity and an enthusiasm for learning.

  • a curriculum that promotes personal development by developing an understanding of self, alongside a respect for others, a positive attitude towards life and learning and resilience for facing challenges.

  • a curriculum encouraging and developing citizenship in preparation for life within local, national and global communities.

  • a curriculum based on first-hand experiences both inside and beyond the classroom incorporating different learning styles – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. 

  • a curriculum that is broad and balanced with a clear progression of skills and the acquisition of subject knowledge alongside opportunities for consolidation and challenge.

Our curriculum maps give you a flavour of what will be taught in each year group 2014-2015 (please view the downloads for each year group in the learning section for the timetables and curriculum maps). The teaching teams are invited to structure the learning to suit their pupils, some learning may take place weekly, some in more focused blocked units over a few days. More details can be found on the medium term plans for each year group.
