Pupil Premium

In 2011 the Government launched Pupil Premium funding. The pupil premium is additional funding given to state schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. The funding is allocated to schools with pupils from Reception to Y11 who:

  • are eligible for free school meals (FSM) or who have registered for FSM within the last 6 years
  • are looked after (LAC)
  • have parents currently in the Armed Forces.

Pupil Premium funding is allocated to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially. It has provided funding for schools to commission services that support these pupils. These services are wide ranging, for example, counsellors to support pupils emotionally; additional adult support to listen to children reading and funded places at Breakfast Club in order to promote a calm and punctual start to the school day.

The school therefore asks all families who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)to register on http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals .

Although all Reception/KS1 pupils receive a free meal as part of the government’s Universal Infant FSM (UIFSM) programme, unless eligible families register for FSM the school will not receive the Pupil Premium funding.
