Year 1 Exploring Cambourne Nature Reserve

Written by  on Wednesday, 28 February 2018.

Each term the Year One team embarks on an adventure to Cambourne Nature Reserve to observe how the different seasons affect our natural environment.

We noticed how bare the trees were and there certainly was a cold chill in the air as we went squelching through the area.

Lilah - “I liked seeing what is evergreen or deciduous.”

Emily - “We found pinecones on evergreen trees.”

Haroon - “I picked up some pinecones and found buds on some of the trees.”

Jessica - “It was very cold so I knew it was wintery.”

As you can see the children made fantastic observations of what they discovered. Something that they were saddened by however was the amount of litter they found and were determined to make a difference by collecting some of the litter that we found on our route back to school.

Yaseen - “We felt sad that there was lots of paper.”

Frankie - “Please stop putting rubbish in the water at the nature reserve because we need to save our world.”

Bertie – “We need to tidy up the white cardboard because any animals walking around could try and eat it.”
