Remembrance 2017 Featured

Written by  on Friday, 10 November 2017.

This morning, Year 6 led two Remembrance Services: one for their parents and carers and one for the whole school. They have been preparing

for the services through their topic learning on WW1 and shared poems that they had written themselves as well as ones written by poets who had experienced the horrors of the war. Additionally, they read psalms, performed a moving song and laid wreaths and ceramic poppies that they had made as part of their learning. The poppies are inspired by the ones made at The Tower of London and we have been 'planting' them in our Reflective Courtyard since 2014. This year we add a white poppy to remember all civilians affected by war, a purple poppy to remember all the animals that have died as a result of war and a gold poppy to remember the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Paschendaele. Please download the attachment to read our poems.
