Shakespeare at The Vine

Written by  on Sunday, 25 March 2018.

Year 6 are studying Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and had a fantastic morning watching a live-streaming of the play from Stratford.

To prepare for the performance, we had fun mapping the characters, learning the Twelfth Night rap and storyboarding the plot. During the performance, we tweeted the RSC and topped off the theatre experiences with choc ices. It was the next best thing to being there. Here are some of our thoughts:

Louisa, “Watching the play, helped me to understand Shakespearian language.”

Oliver, “Whilst watching the play, I laughed most of the time and now understand what Shakespeare’s comedies are like.”

Sara, “I think watching the play has helped me to imagine the characters in my head and understand their individual perspectives.”

Tommy, “Watching the play helped me to understand why it’s a comedy and made his language easier to follow.”

Ruby, “I don’t usually laugh at films, but I laughed a lot during this performance. It was my first experience of Shakespeare, and I thought it was fantastic.”

Will G, “The performance helped me to develop a better understanding of the play. It was awesome!”

Now, we’re busy acting out scenes and writing in role.
