Great Autumn in ASC

Written by  on Wednesday, 15 November 2017.

The start of the school year has seen us welcome 12 new children into the After School Club, they have settled in well and are enjoying their time with us.

We have been very busy with a wide variety of construction and craft activities. We have made a stunning stain glass tree and some superb animal silhouettes over several weeks, and the children are very proud of their efforts. “I like butterflies” Evie. “I think the hedgehogs look the most effective” Ryka.

The outside space has been really popular with both the children and our new member of staff Ben Whitbread. Together they have made their own assault courses for their bikes and scooters using the trim trail and now that the nights are growing dark have enjoyed playing flash light hide and seek. Future planned activities include glow stick hide and seek, marshmallow toasting, and outdoor painting.

A development this term in our routine has enabled everyone to come together at 4pm for a light tea. We have enjoyed jacket potatoes, home-made pizza and beans on toast. The children are involved with the food preparation and setting up and clearing away as well having the opportunity to experience a social meal time.

“It’s very yummy, I like it, we don’t have to sit on little chairs and tables, crumpets are my favourite” Kate

“It’s great I love when we have seconds and the food is so nice” Benjamin

“I like the way you make it different each day and week and I really like how if we don’t like it we can have toast or bead” Delana
